Hi guys have been noticing my ankles hurt everytime i finished playing at bugis field. i suspect that the uneven surface had taken a toll on my fragile yet delicate ankle. i sincerely hope that we can change our venue to somewhere that is of more appropriate venue to play. any suggestions guys?

The choice for consideration for new field after we experimented with few places over past 3 years...
1) Centralized locations - our players are from all over shop (north, south, east, west).. so the most convenient is still someone in town. For players not driving, should preferably be somewhere near MRT at least.
2) Ample parking space - where can get free and ample parking where no parking auntie come to book you.
3) No other team contending with the same field.
4) FREE and can extend play without some uncle chasing us out of the field
Some places we have tried --------------------------------- 1) Marina South - Good - Goalposts, centralized Bad - Pitch soggy, Have to book field everytime and cannot extend
2) Farrer park (where bengali play cricket) Good - Big space Bad - Grass mimosa, uneven with pot holes

i am glad some1 brought this up before fatal incident happens sooner or later.
i hve never play in such terrible field condition b4 and that can explain why sum players are relunctant to play to their fullest strength for fear of fall, injury etc
playing with a makeshift goalpost to me serve no match practise exercise and not to mention no shooting practise and etc to gauge or improve a player's strength/weakness.
if there's passion for the game, where field are available in good condition, there will be players.

Yah i totally agree with alvin on tis issue. Just injure my back after stepping into a deep hole while sprinting aft a ball the previous wk. i wouldnt mind paying some money everywk if we get to play on a better field with goal posts. And i think playing on a proper field with goal posts will be beneficial to the team's progress as we can get proper match fitness and shooting practices. Cheers to bugis beatles!!

Add-ons
1) Marina South Good - Goalposts, centralized Bad - Pitch soggy, Have to book field everytime and cannot extend
2) Farrer park (where bengali play cricket) Good - Big space Bad - Grass mimosa, uneven with pot holes
3) Ubi Ave 1 (besides Maha Bodhi school) Good - relatively good pitch Bad - awkward location for many

I suggest Speaker's Corner at Hong Lim Park. It's in the city, next to the MRT (Clarke Quay) and there is a car park right beside it (but have to pay for parking though). Meets the crietria in terms of accessibility and the conditions there are much better than bugis definately. Not too sure about whether others have marked the space as their's on Sunday mornings (anyone living around there can confirm?).
In any case, should give it a try for a week.

i did some survey and went to play on some fields before. some of them are of quite good quality and location. i think i recently played with my ex teamates at this field at ngee ann poly at the staff block. it;s at bukit timah and the conditions is in superb conditions andd there is a decent goalpost. and the most important thing is that it is free to play. it seems underutilise to me. but however i played there on a sat evening, and i;m not sure if there;s any one playing on a regular basis on a sunday afternoon. anyone lives nearby free to go have lookout on a sunday. or any one from NP before?

I agree with Ben that Hong Lim Park (Speaker's Corner) is a good alternative to the bugis pitch.
i've played at Hong Lim Park before last time on thursday evenings and the ground there is way better than bugis.
only problem is no goal posts so cannot practice shooting properly

sounds like camp david.. me and kent used to play there 10 years ago............... field is okay except its all the way west.. (okay for me, because i live near there!) but not many ppl will turn up. Also can remember that there is a security guard who chase u out if no booking.. we used to argue with the security guards and they threatened to call the police

The pitch at Hong lim park looks good except alittle small with our large turnout(sometimes). Ivan and myself used to play there. I stay very near there (yahooooo). So I will scan the field on sunday morning for about 1 month for any rival teams. There is a carpark beside the neighourhood police post at hong lim field. If I am not mistaken, open to public with parking coupon. will double cfm. As for the goal posts, we should buy 1 the size of the goal post for fusal. Can;t remember where I saw one that is more plastic in nature. :|
Lastly, the field at bugis needs a rest(for few months) for grass to grow back to normal. Agree with Ho Soon that the field needs to be more centralize. So everyone here needs to keep a lookout for another field.

Hi Beatles, i haf check the price of the field (Kallang)- its $100/ field/2 hrs...without ref..... if we can find 20 players it only $5 bucks each, what do u all think?
|
Kent Posts: 2389 |
which also mean $6 each if we only have 15 players.
I'm fine with that.
