After last weekend's results - liverpool vs chelsea 1-4, who can stop chelsea?

all the other clubs might as well prepare for next season?

hoping to see them trip up ...

Chelski is damn boring - very predictable yet no one can break them yet. We will see what they are made of once they start losing....

the approach last night was right, but liverpool's defenders were simply not up to mark, be it fatigue or quality.

for traore, his tackle looks as if he is dying to give away a penalty and that opened the floodgate. too bad liverpool does not have depth in the defensive squad, which explains why he is still playing.

other defenders (hyypia, carragher, finnan) were to blamed as well, all going to sleep from time to time.

Steady lar!

i think u mean this sunday.

rather, we were more like charlton (against spurs on sat) in a few of our past few matches: scored a quick goal and being overwhelmed by a few.

Steady lar!

Talking about this  sunday's match, we are awfully short of defenders and a goalie.

Again, mourinho has shown that getting results in football is about organisation, tactical discipline and teamwork.
This sunday,  do we play like chelsea or don't worry about how many goals we are going to leak in and just attack all out and enjoy ourselves?

Sigh..I think liverpool are influenced by Jose Morinho message lah....."A draw will be bad for liverpool".....I noticed in all the previous meeting with chelsea..liverpool tends to defend deep and solid rock at the back......and only attack a little only...but yesterday match...wah...liverpool attack so ficere....and the back defence was ripped apart......

haha... another bias comment abt chelsea being boring.
according to statistics shown in the straits times, liverpool play the most long ball in premier league while chelsea played the least long ball in premeir league.
wonder y nobody declare liverpool boring but choose to focus their moans at chelsea. maybe its bcos the rest cant beat them so they made the comments to unsettle them.
teams like man u r trying to play like chelsea now but i dun see them winning as much as chelsea r.

maybe its because neutrals feel that they are winning based on the money that they have from abramovich. For a team that spend so much, instead of trying to put in more goals into the oppositions net, they have a successful formula so far of killing opposition in the midfield, sucking them in and delivering the killer punch when counter attack or the long ball. The question is how to beat chelsea?

1) chelsea don't give away balls easily in midfield with lampar, makelele and essien
2) their defence is so stingy
3) they use a big size robust striker - drogba to catch sleeping defences with long ball.
4) they are lethal at set pieces - so manyppl who can head well - john terry, drogba, crespo, lampar can shoot from far
5) they can play wide with robben and duff.

there doesn't seem to be a way to stop them. so most team facing them will play counter defensive tactic to stop them.... their way is efficient and produce results no doubt, but seem almost like robots controlled by button from the master mourinho..no passion, no display of flair, just discipline, work ethos and efficiency. They remind me of the villian's team in shaolin soccer.

I say for sunday's match, we learn to play like them... we should be able to "kill" the opposition team easily.

coz we dont have a regular lineup, i reckon the most usable tactic would be:

- pack the midfield with at least hardworking 5 ball-winners to cut off the threat before the opposition reaches our defenders & alielie
- one striker to constantly pressing on their defenders/goalie to exploit any mistake (amatuer football always make mistakes). throw in one additional supporting striker if we are not playing anchorman.
- three static center backs playing deep 'cause we cant rely on offside without linesman. no overlapping.
- one anchor as the fourth defender if we are not playing supporting striker.

yes, one can interpret it as 3-1-5-1, 4-5-1 or 3-5-2 formation, depending on the situation.

though we have three in the center midfield, their role is to win the balls. in the event of counter-attack, we'll be making good use of our wingers' pace.

Steady lar!

As mentioned by Johan Cruff , big teams had to win and to win beautifully and teams will have to pay less respect to Chelski and start to attack them... their soccer is too controlled .....too boring and only relying on the brillant of their 4 wingers to attack opposing team.

The best way to stop Chelski is to stop their wingers first and a good centre back who can man-marked its lone striker out of the game, then the main battle will be in mid-field. Only Lampar have creative spark in his passing, the rest are destroyer, thus take the game to its throat by quick attacking , one of the weakness in Chelski is Carlvaho who concede too many free kicks outside the box.....with a bit of luck Man United can break them

Comin back to the game on Sun, we need a goal keeper !!!!!! I think for the first 30 min we can sit back and absord and counter-attack on the left flank( Ting Fu whose pace may cause a few problems) , then we will imposed ourselves and attack in the last 15 min...if shag liao can rolling-sub ahahah  .....

hi guys, i'm pretty suprised that all focus is on how chelsea whipped liverpool, or how man united scrapped past last week, and absoulutely no comments on how Blackburn did a convincing 2-0 win over WBA. i'm dissapointed. haha we are on a roll here brothers out there. the news shouldn't be just about chelsea and man utd. we  managed to beat man u, 2-1 and wba2-0 hence a little crediblity would do just good. so what are we proving here? that we are here to make a statement, one that will live on even when the big teams struggle we prevail.

talking about this weekend game, i agree wif kent that we do not have  a regular lineups, but i forsee that alot of players will be coming to play for the match. some who don;t even turn out for kickaround suprisingly turn out for the match like the previous one agaisnt Police coast guards. so there's a little uncertainty there.

Jovan (distibution and tackling)
patrick

then u play where?!

we can't have last week's MOM on the bench.
since i missed the last game, i can warm the bench first. still trying to recover from a knee injury.

and this EPL thread has effectively became a match discussion topic. hahahaha
