Hey guys....

Great attendance and a very good workout for all of us today....
Hopefully it will set us up nicely for next week's "Must Win" match... (At least for Gerald!!! Haha)

Thru this morning's session, seems like we have more or less finalise some problematic positions...

Keeper - Anthony / Thomas / Ben
Left Back - Herman
Centre Back - Gerald, Alvin / Ivan Liew
Right Back - Open

Striker - Boon Heng

Midfield - All positions are still up for grabs depending on actual attendance and you guys preference...

Wat say u guys???

 the must win match

4-5-1
keeper - Anthony / Thomas
Left Back - Herman
Center Back - Gerald, Alvin / Ivan, Thomas
Right Back - Nam Sing / Ivan Kwek
Defensive Midfield - Donn
center mid - charlton / Anthony Chua
attacking mid - me / Gerald
Right - kent / weijie / kok liang
left - tingfu
striker - boon heng / kent / kok liang

or convert 4-5-1 into 4-[3-2]-1 .. very versatile
play like what we did at hong lim, counter attacking game since we can't hold and pass well... once get ball spray ball fast to attackers / wingers.

if ball fall under their possession, pack the area in front of defence and stop them from penetrating..
Used to work against some other teams we played with 2 years ago. very effective

good to see everyone getting hyped up for next week's game. about time we capture our first victory for 2006.

would suggest a 4-5-1 and a 5-4-1 convertible, due to our traditional scoring pattern (score the first goal and end up with a setback). no matter what, we must defend our lead this time round.

should start off with:

GK: Anthony/Thomas
SWP: Gerald, CB: Alvin (Gerald to marshall the entire backline while Alvin play the stopper)
LB: Herman
RB: Nam Sing

LM: Tingfu
CM: Charlton, Donn, Ho Soon (OM)
RM: Wei Jie

ST: Boon Heng

Subs: anthony chua, kent, ivan kwek, kok liang and ivan liew

in the event that we lead or getting tired, Charlton or Donn together with Alvin are to play dual-anchor system, protecting Gerald and the Keeper from having to touch the ball.

We have the two of the most natural players covering the Left Flank: Ting fu and Herman.
Thus, I suggest we contain their Left Flank (our right flank), which mean Wei Jie and Nam Sing should always be playing the same role and not be over-adventurous. They should absorb the ball from their wingers, bring it to our backline and play it to the left.

Steady lar!

Wah now I get to start in RB, yeah!!!

In any case, based on yesterday's game, I thought that I had link up well with Wei Jie, where his through balls set the right flank with flames. Think that this could be vital during the second half where the majority of players are tired and could use this channel in the last 10mins of the game, since we were to contained their left flank for the most part of the game.

we need to fight for the 50-50 balls more often.. i think we lack abit of aggression in the last game, thus we allow the opponent to come back at us..
let the tackles fly high.. show no mercy!!!

oh yah.. we need to close up their angles quickly so they wont have much room to 'think' and  force them to make errors...

The players assigned to the designated position muz remember your role.... Play hard but not rough..( no injuries please - its only a friendly)

One observation -  that we are not very comfortable when opponent pump long ball behind the defend, defenders muz not let the ball bounce(big bouncing balls are always a distraction

yeah, tackle hard but not rough as we are equally liable for injures for high-risk tackles.
unless u are dealing with a bastard player, its never a pretty sight to see players on either side getting too badly injured.
after all, we aint paid 30,000 pounds per week.

Steady lar!

Yeah.. good to see activties in this forum! Remember, play to win but also enjoy the game.

I think we play very well in small pitches, so you all can also play as if its a small pitch. More short passes, support each other more by playing around each other.

Since our boon heng is fast and not too tall, we can have more off- the-ball running... Bring ball near to 3rd qtr of the field and pass through ball into penalty area.. this will also prevent unnecessary off side.

Go Go Go!!

Final Score line, a 2 goal margin victory!

Yo guys!we muz win!win with style!haha.my bro played with this team before.said the centre back is quite slack.(so boon heng..u muz disturb till he pee in his pants!)..

then kok told mi they lack strikers in the striking dept.but it's a young team..so i expect them to do a lot of running!so think we gotta protect the centre back in case the centre runs open when our midfielders get too engrossed with attacking!

i've nv enjoyed playing in defence so much as compared to playing with u guys!haha.

hey hey hey... gerrald we're gonna stick wif each other for quite sometime man... hahah i from RM play till RB then make shift CB for a few games become permanent liao.... ahahha dun even know when they started naming me as CB liao. haha but nonetheless i also played as CB when i was in my short jc stint but never really enjoyed playing it until now too.. haha so i guess two reluctant CB is gonna storm the field this sun,. but nonetheless we;re gonna give our very best!

so kok liang's friends gonnna face the wrath of two veri aggresive defenders eh... haha. anyway back to the match discussion... i think our team have the depth and quality to go into every match as a favourite to win . our mentality shouldn;t be just defending our slender lead but persist and control the entire game preventing them from getting comfortable stroking the ball around us. i feel the past mistakes we made are evitable in the sense tat we became too preoccupied with defending our 1 or 2 goal margin that we were force to sit in our own half absorbing their attacks, which i think we should carry on wif our attacking momentum and play according to our initial game plan.

also further more i discovered that we weren;t fully utilising the pace of ting fu in match situations which he is an asset to our team. hence i would urge the game plan revolve more utilisation of tingfu or towards wing play rather. expliot their fullbacks and get the crosses in to trouble their defence. and boon heng should provide the firepower in absence of alson. just a simple task for boon heng and that is to be a nuisance in their penalty box. win as many free kicks around the area or perhaps even penalties? or getting pple sent off lar... haha

and for any defensive players, my advice is tat for a succesful defensive act is to commit only when u are very confident in getting the ball or 50 - 50 ball situations. if that opponent player have the pace of skills to dribble let him dribble as long as he wants... all you have to do is stick to him like a glue and he can;t do anything. close the opponent shooting angle as quickly as possible and should u fail in  attempting to retrieve a lost ball, u should recover in split seconds and come back haunting the player that just beaten u.

anywae keep the suggestions coming in,.. we still hve several days to further concrete our gameplan and starting line up. should any team mates have any strong point or burning issues in terms of the game plan or players position do not hestitate to voice out! ya'

we must win this game... i sense the morale in the camp is of a very high level now! hahah
ciao

Goalkeeper Anthony
Sweeper Thomas , Ivan Liew , Kent , Gerald
Center Back Gerald , Thomas , Ivan Liew , Alvin
Left Back Herman , Then Nam Sing , Kent
Right Back Then Nam Sing , Kent , Ivan Kwek , Alvin
Defensive Midfielder Donn , Then Nam Sing , Charlton
Center Midfielder Charlton , Then Nam Sing , Ho Soon , Donn
Left Midfielder Ting Fu , Wei Jie
Right Midfielder Wei Jie , Then Nam Sing , Kent , Ivan Kwek
Offensive Midfielder Ho Soon , Gerald , Charlton
Striker orangeboy , Ho Soon
Captain Charlton , orangeboy , Kent , Ho Soon

my personal observation is that we usually play well at the beginning and getting disorganised after substitutions. may be it's due to the substitute being played out of position. my suggestion is for the substitute to play at the voted position so that we can maintain a tight formation.

I do have an observation.

We need to impress the opposition that our left flank is the ONLY way forward. That way, the right side of the field would be pretty open. Wei Jie or the RM/RB would be able to expose the opposition left side. Do some crosses even shoot.

The CM/DM should look out for this opening during the match. Not too often though.

2 two cents worth.
