Alvin, don be too affected..and hope it does not  put u in a difficult position when at work.
no prob bro..good experience afterall..past few match rarely got such surge in attack from oppositions..so at least we know we need to organise ourselves better in times of counter attacks!

Time: 9am
Venue: Farrer Park
Opponents: Architects61 (Alvin's Company)

This was an early game that had all of us getting up earlier than usual.. Boy, dont'even get up so early to get to work. After hitching a ride from Alson's car from commonwealth MRT along Kent, Tingfu and Donn, we made our way to the pitch. It was a pretty hot morning, barely seeing clouds. Before the game started, we could see few black african players running around the pitch, doing their warm ups. Some of us were commenting that the players, amongst them a pair of whom I thought were twins - were extremely muscular and physically intimidating. I swear they looked more like WWE Wrestlers than footballers.. ask those who were there who saw them without shirts . Later we heard, they were playing in S-league for sporting africa... at that stage little did we know that they had a part to play in our uneventful day..

1st Half Starting Line Up
Goalie - Anthony
CenterBack - Gerald / Herman
Right back - Nam sing
Left Back - Ivan
Defensive Mid - Donn
CenterMid - Adrian
Left Wing - Ting Fu
Right Wing - Wei Jie
Forward - Ho Soon
Striker - Alson

The beatles started the game slowly, allowing the opposition to encroach into our half while we were still attempting to kick start our engines. Our opponents seemed to settled down faster in the opening minutes and within less than 5 minutes, we conceded yet another soft goal. From a corner kick, the ball floated directly into our goal. Anthony the goalie, came out of his line but was left stranded as he watched the ball loop over him into an empty goal. 1-nil down at this stage. Guess the beatles need to improve on our set piece defendings as this is becoming sort of a trend. However, beatles who have been chasing the elusive "MORALE BOOSTING" victory since the start of the year, dug deep and began switching to a higher gear. Ting Fu was starting to tear down the left wing with his blazing runs, giving his marker a torrid time. Donn & Adrian was stifling the opposition's attack, while WeiJie was begining to make some dangerous crosses into the box. Alson had an attempted header but was over the goal. Tingfu had a shot saved from the keeper as well.

The pivotal moment of the first half came when I had the ball at my feet in the box. Seeing there was a big space and having sight at goal, I picked my spot with a left legged attempt. GOAL !!. A richly deserved equaliser which would spark off a revival. Beatles few months ago would have heads buried, but we were no stranger to being a goal down since our last encounter with "psyhco's" team. This set into motion some wonderful display of counterattacking soccer and clinical finish. Beatle's 2nd goal ensued shortly. Alson, who received a long pass, made a first time volley which the opposition's keeper seem to made a touch but failed to hold on. The ball bobbed into goal and we were on our way. Ting Fu made it 3 after being played through the half way line by Alson. Carrying the ball all the way and speeding through to make it 3-1.
At the other end, our backline was growing in confidence with Gerald marshalling superbly alongside Herman. Ivan and Nam Sing also carried out their tasks well with no nonsense defending. Adrian and Donn were stamping their authority in the middle of the park, dominating the midfield with their heroic tackling and distribution.

Towards, the end of the half, Charlton, Qingfa, Anthony came in. Qingfa, in one attempt at goal dribbled the ball, went clear on the left wing after a wonderful through ball and shot. Alas, the shot hit the post.. else we would have been celebrating 4-1 up...!

What a wonderful 1st half... ! When the half ended, we knew deep in our minds, this game was ours for the taking..

2nd Half Starting Line Up
Goalie - Anthony
CenterBack - Gerald / Herman
Right back - Alex Hay
Left Back - Ivan
Defensive Mid - Qing fa / Adrian
CenterMid - Charlton
Left Wing - Ting Fu
Right Wing - Kent
Forward - Antony Chua
Striker - Ho Soon

When the half time break ended, we were waiting for the game to be restarted when the biggest turnaround of the game happened.. Architect61 asked the African Players who were training earlier on to play for them.. They changed 3 players at one go and another entered after 10 minutes. With a total of 4 Black African Players who had superior athletic ability and physique.. this was simply a no contest. For those who weren't there, Just imagine .. the 4 black players, anyone could walk easily into our national team. They had 1 "essien" look -a-like player in defence. 2 "Afro hairstyle" running rings and one-touch passes in the midfield and 1 in attack. We were simply no match. They scored easily and we were overrun in all most departments. The opponents I must criticized strongly, seemed to have scant respect for us by asking 3rd party professionals to play for them albeit being a friendly game. It simply spoiled the contest. In fact, it wasn't even one.

Alvin, our usual centerback was overheard discussing with his company mates but was told off. Feeling indignant, he switched Jerseys and played for the beatles.. Could feel that beatles had more pride.. The 2nd half wasn't very eventful except for a foul in the box when when we were awarded a penalty. Anthony's penalty attempt was saved by their keeper and kent nearly finished up with the follow up. With the african's help, they managed to bring the score to 3-5. The game ended 10 minutes earlier than normal time after we decided to abandon the match when Alson's altercation with their defender threatened to blow things out of proportions. In fact, we should have walked out when they switch players. No matter how people see it, my opinion is that we won 3-1 without external influence.... except with a sour aftertaste in our mouths...

Guys, a soccer game is not just about winning and losing. No one likes losing.. and When we lost, (our worst being 6-0) we lost with heads held high! This time, I just didn't understand why Architect61 players could give up their Jerseys so easily and handed them over to the professionals to don it for them.. whats so glorious when they celebrate thier 2nd half goals? It was not a case of them having insufficient players, Where's their pride when they celebrate those goals? We were robbed of a victory again .. so guys .. for now we will continue our chase for the "MORALE BOOSTING VICTORY"

Pride guys .... the game's also about PRIDE .. don't worry ..

Long Live Beatles !

i agree with hosoon... i question my company's motive in this and got told off by one of my colleague.. i was pissed by what answer he gave me and i swore i would have just walked out of the team. I chose to be composed and did a substitution professionally. my intention was to sub one of my colleague in and not the AFRICANOS!!!! but being a smart alec ... one of those malay click quickly ushered the fourth AFRIKANOS into the field without my knowledge! u cannot imagine how pissed i was! sigh... but i must say it;s all those malays fault.... my team captain the ollder balding guy that apologise to us also have not much say and that those malays already have asked them to play for them,. i freaking lost my respect for those pple who celebrate the second half goals as if they were involved in it! and that bloody sucker have the guts to tell me IT"S ONLY A GAME WAT!!!

hahah but actaully it;s good experience playing those players! makes me think twice abt defenders having to mark drogba! hahaha oh u saw the gallas goal? ouch tottenham!!!

hahhaha... dun worry alvin. although we lost the game but we haven't lost our pride.
we take pride in donning the blue jersey of the beatles. but we really gotta work on our fitness and strength of our balls.
we lack the strength to put crosses and execute long passes.
Superb goal from gallas just now. can see tat the goal meant a lot to the chelsea team by the way they celebrate.

terrific match report. ho soon can consider writting for the newpaper liao.

good game guys, though it has been bothering me for quite a while today that we were deprived of a proper victory, after such a fine performance from the guys.

alvin, take it easy. credits to you for helping to arrange the match. watever unpleasantness created were completely beyond your control. just hope this match wont cause any hindrance to your work.

looking at the bright side, its not something we get to experience everyday, testing our limits against professional african players.
not to mention i won a free 100 plus today.

Steady lar!

Well I enjoyed myself yesterday and its seem that " a series of unfortunate events " is always happening.....think muz sprinkle pomelo leaf water...

First half -

Although we concede another freak and soft goal in less than 3 min after the whistle was blown, we kept our composure and fought back... This time round we have more time and space as time went on, we began to string some passes and finally when we equalise, we knew that this game is for our taking... True enough, we hit them back with 2 goals and the score stand at 3-1....

Second half -

Played against 4 africans.... ** too fast too furious **

Conclusion : my money is on Sporting African in the S league....

Mebbe the Africans themselves also need a morale boosting victory... after all they are playing in the S-league, which some say is the best league in the world =)
