I'm going over there next Monday, still thinking whether to drive around there or not... is driving and parking in Taipei suicidal? Do you see a lot of car rental outside Taipei or the major cities?

bad idea . it is left hand drive over there and people dont' really care about traffic lights there...

can't recall seeing any car rental. taipei's traffic is terrible. taxis are all over the place and they drive like F1 driver. be careful when crossing the road especially those scooters sprint like Rossi in his superbike. they may come out from no where.
