merseyside derby lives up to the standard with the game ending with 11 yellow and 2 red cards. steven gerrard received his second yellow with a stupid lunge just after he got his first for kicking the ball away.
even against a 11-man everton, the reds didnt well the contain them and force an own goal from philip neville just before the break. its one of those rare occasions where luis garcia was extremely hardworking and he gave liverpool a 2-0 advantage two minutes into the second half, with a fabulous lob over richard wright.
everton fought back with cahill scoring a header from the corner but kewell put the reds back into a comfortable lead with a fantastic outswinging shot.
even without their inspirational skipper, alonso, garcia and momo filled his gap and the reds are in the second spot of the table for the night.
