everything costed around 8-900 bucks
for a 3 Ghz CPU, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB HDD, DVD Writer and a nice casing..
just pissed with the slowness of the old system... have a athlon64 3000+ in office as well.. but haven't compared the speed yet.
but the noise the Intel cpu cooler creates is crazy .. the AMD is a much better choice if you are concerned about noise at home.

8-900 bucks or 8-9000 bucks?
you already have a motherboard that supports dual core right from the start?

its between 800 - 900 dollars, can't remember exactly...
forgot to mention that the motherboard is a new asus that supports intel D 930 cpu..
the noise is really a big issue... Intel CPUs have bloody big cpu fans that makes the PC sound like as though you are in the server room... that's a major minus point.
the AMD CPU can be software configured to run a multiple clock speeds during run-time.. which is better if you are looking at lesser power consumption.
I've not tried those bare bone pc as they support slower CPUs and not the Dual Cores, but they look asthetically better at home.
Kheng Fatt - Its DIY PC. wiht parts bought from Sim Lim ..

intel chip used to be the quietest of all while AMD works like a running engine.
how come it is now the other way around.

easy... intel is improving their technology through clockspeed, AMD is using other ways to improve their technology..

hey guys, i will be working at the upcoming PC show frm 1st june till 4th of june for Intel.
Those interested in getting PCs can come down to the Intel booth at the show and look for me.
u can preview the specs of the PCs at http://www.plutotech.com.sg/pc%20products.htm but the prices will have a slight difference frm those shown on the site.
All the PCs come with Intel mainboards and Intel Duo Core processors and can allow u to upgrade the processor anytime in the future.
A new series called the Ultimax Gamers series will oso be available during the show which will contain the latest Intel mainboard which can support the yet to be released Intel Duo Core2 processors.

using a intel D930 dual core 3ghz cpu (newly upgraded home pc) and bought a new dell intel dual core notebook as well..
anyone using AMD dual core (x2) here ?

Kent Posts: 2389 |
unless u deal with graphic intensively , hosting a server or an active gamer, i think dual core is an overkill.
btw, how much those hardware cost u?

How's the dell notebook? It looks really cheap on paper... is it worth buying??

i actually upgraded from the basic requirements ..
upgraded processor from 1.6 ghz to 1.8 ghz
cpu from 512MB to 1GB
warranty from 1 year to 3 year Complete Cover plus insurance.. ( they claim that even if you damaged your notebook, spill coffee, they will repair it for you)
upgraded the TFT LCD to 1680x1050 .. (Super clear)
total damage was around 2.0k
THe speed is really excellent .. if you're looking for a good performance and cheap notebook .. You should get this one... fantatistic deal .. i'm making the comparison with the ACER equivalent.
