Balance team fund for Q1 2009. Can only afford for another quarter of field bookings.

Factors led to current fund status:
- Not all sign up for members
- Still making up for last season deficit
- High cancellation of game
- Subsidy to the recent friendly match

Hey Kent,

Cant help wondering how we can increase players participation.

I have been going around soliciting for new players but is not very successful.

Its a bit sad we have to keep cancelling our training every week.

My participation is ad hoc due to family commitments.

Found a group just like us who plays on the same field on Sat 9am, always 8 a side at lease.

Almost the same standard, slightly worse...I joined them for 20 minutes last Sat.

If any of you guys can make it, let me know...

We will try to get players from there or join them if any of you guys want to sweat a little...

Keep the names coming...

Hi beatles!

For those who are available & can make it for the kickaround, pls confirm your attendance early!!!

Pls do not wait & see... Wait & see for wat???

There won't be pretty gals playing there for sure... so get your asses down to the field NOW!!!

How u expect me to arrange for a proper match when we have difficulty getting enuf players for our normal training...

Hi Beatles, currently i am injured cant join the weekly kick about... Maybe I can suggest that we make it 2 times per month instead of every wk.. Cos its really a waste of money if we book n not play due to poor attendence...  So if we book 2 times per month, we can save money and maybe see increase of attendence. Feel free to jio ur friends team down for a friendly kickabt..

My feel is that its getting boring if we always play 5 vs 5 on Sun and its always the same ppl - no excitment..

The other two wks we can play street soccer, play against other teams or play the cage ...etc..

we can try playing futsal. its pricey but might be interesting for a change. like what donn suggested.

else, we can organise 7 aside friendly matches.. since we only have about 10 pple coming down.

somehow, i feel that pple are more keen in matches, so after a few 7 aside matches, we might be able to attract more pple to join us?

good idea from donn about having the trainings reduced to twice a month (hopefully i choose the 2 right sundays).
that should last our fund for a few more months.

as for the street soccer, i will leave it to those keen players to fill those gaps.
on the finance side, i would still suggest to keep the fund solely for booking of fields.

guys can consider mervyn's suggestion if you are available on saturday.
will be occupied for the month of april.
will check out the field on one of these saturdays if the attendance for sunday looks gloomy.

Steady lar!

Are we just being hopeful that the attendance will improve if we book the field twice a month?
We should use the remaining funds with prudence. Booking a field to play 6 a-side does not make sense when I can play 7 a-side at NUS for free (Sunday morning/afternoon).
If we are paying, it makes sense to make our money worth?

My suggestion:
1) If we cant confirm the attendance beforehand, might as well use the nearby 'free-to-play' field at bukit merah? - If there are others around, we play against them. If not, we use the field for free. Under-spending is not a problem right?
2) Use the funds only when we can confirm a good attendance, or for arranged games with referee.

The excitement will only subside if we continue this way.

nope. i am going with the idea of booking twice a month to reduce the expenses, not hoping for better attendance.

frankly, playing where, booking field or not, is not going to make much difference. if the players dont want to come, they simply dont.
for the last few years, we have exhausted means to recruit and retain players.
it just so happen that we are in the twilight where many of us have more passion for other things.

i very much appreciate those innovative ideas from the floor, but my hands are tied.
can you guys help me to execute some of those wonderful ideas?

Steady lar!

Hey, think the attendance is the problem...

Can we joi more people to join us?  Booking the field is not an issue, we just wan people to join and have a venue to play when we wan to.

I am trying always to get people to join us on sundays but its not happening when we cant even form the base number of pax...

Chicken and egg issue.

Solve the root problem first.

Can we increase the core number of participant?

Kent can switch to twice a month...

Cheers,

Mervyn

Hey guys...how about going back to Hong Lim & play?
Another suggestion is to play earlier at 10am?
Usually at 11am most people already finished their games.

i gotta agree with mervyn.

many a time, i am struggling to retain the new bloods because the core players dont bother to show up, pretty much wasted those recruitment exercise.
will you continue to be a fan of a club if the players themselves don't give a flying fark?
e.g. gibson is our newest player around, what kind of impression do you think he's getting?

to solve one problem at a time.

as such, can we pledge to get our ass down for at least 3 times every month?
i just need 12 players to give us this promise and i am damn sure we will be on the right track.

1. Kent

i'm not asking player to sell their butt here, just a simple commitment to enjoy a few hours of football on sunday morning.

any one else would like to give the beatles their word?

Steady lar!

ok.. 2 names. just charlton and me. at least its a start.

perhaps it is too much for some of you out there.

how about committing to at least 2 games per week? (every 1st and 3rd week)??
can i see more names now?

i'm not asking for one full day of your time, nor am i asking you to spend the night with me.
just that 2-3 hours.

I will always try to join whenever possible.  Will try to notify earlier if i can't make it.

Its always the same old situation cause now we have only about 7 regular players who are always willing to play....really can't think of any way to increase this pool of regular players to about 12 - 14 at the moment.
