In a seperate thread, one of us brought up that the team usually boots a loose ball up the field in attack, or the play simply stuck at the flanks, problems with ball possession, etc.

I started this thread, hoping that players can come to contribute (or ask for) ideas to improve their personal or team's skills.

To start off briefly; may i suggest we set an objective each week or every fort-night, and we keep track of that objective.

Before the game, we have drills set up to improve certain aspects. Eg. we can do passing drills in small groups of 5; it helps individual ball control/first-touch/anticipation with passing at speed on the ground. To meet objective(s), players & the drills effectiveness will need to be reviewed together. We can then bring what we had started into the game, self-focusing to do what we learned earlier.

Refresh the basics again on the following week besides the new objective.

The learning should be fun, and like someone pointed out – the drills are only pointers as you can only train that much with 30mins or so. But the idea is to create a proper learning philosophy, whether for the strong desirer or weekend leisurer. To improve, you can only practise, and practise with the right techniques; because doing the wrong thing over & over again will get no where.

Hope that players can contribute their 'ideas' or comment freely to this thread - be it request for pointers on individual 'problem' or as a team improvement, and experienced players/organisers can help out.
