can also say its not so good game considering we were whacked 6 goals without much replies, with the opposition's keeper hardly troubled.

we had to make do with a make-shift keeper today (patrick). even so, i thought he performed well and made a few decent saves.
even though chee boon was playing his second match of the day, he made significant contributions in the defense and looked barely tired (amazing).

personally, i gotta admit this team is in a different league altogether. they are young, fast and did well as a team to contain us in our own half.
even so, i applaud all fellow team mates for putting in their all to enjoy the game, which i did, especially in the trainings we had after the match. i think we should do that more often.

one thing worth mentioning is that this abandoned school has got fine pitch, at least one of the best i have patronized so far.
we can consider booking that pitch more often to play among ourselves.

lastly, congratulation to adrian, alvin and boon heng, for making the closest prediction in the poll for a 6-1 result! (except it is in their favourite)

the training was more enjoyable than the match itself. during the match i think like some other players, i don't think i got to receive/pass the ball more than 10 times ... all the time shacked out doing chasing.

1 suggestion though, instead of 3 passes out, where the final ball is usually pump out. we can set it to 5 passes and and the final ball must be passed (not pumped up across finishing half way line after 3 touches) to a team mate on the line. The passes will steadily increase with difficulty. This will improve areas which we are severly lacking in.. off the ball running, passing, possession and shouting communication/co-ordination.

of course the trainings are still a step down from the real match as during match, we rarely get more than 3-4 secs on the ball before looking for a team mate to pass.. and opponents are much more physical ( this one shouldn't be advocated during trainngS!)

for kickabouts at bugis, we dont' have much team building opportunity, and to be honest with ourselves we don't improve as a competitive team. However, we get much touches with the ball and enjoy the game more. Isn't this why we play football every sunday in the first place? If we are more focus towards doing well in matches, i think we have long way to go to improve... like what are suggested by most of the previous posts (big field, goalposts ...etc)  .. what is our motivation? to win competitvely or to enjoy?

personally i prefer kickabout, not so serious, play ball more than chase ball, and dun hv butterflies in my stomach b4 kickoff.
but then again, i think once a while we shd have matches... for reality check.  So once a month at pitch is a good idea, whether for match or training.

The game started and ended at a frantic pace which the oppenent showed great stamina, pace and team play.
We suffered a crushing defeat as it is one of the toughing games we played so far, nevertheless everyone did their part and we shall be back..... Maybe we can take note of our weakness and improve on them - which i feel playing on a better and proper field will help us to improve us a team.

Patrick showed us that he too has a safe pair of hands and Yazid came despite of the fasting month..Great team spirit.

What do u guys think?

just changed the polling options, thought that might help.

I agree with Ah Soon the team does not improve competitively by having kickarounds. In actual fact, the competitive standard can drop over time, and this was what happened to our team. Yesterday match should have been a close game too.

When we played against SGX and Mingsoon's Team more than half a year ago, the score was close eg 1-1, 2-1
When SGX and Mingsoon Team played the opponent 2-3 months ago, the score was also a close one eg 2-2.

cheers
cheeboon

It's kickoff time~!!

donn, do let me know when u are booking the pitch and i'll change the fixture details on my end. no need to create new fixtures, afterall, they are trainings.

i would suggest next sunday, if not this sunday, before the heat dies down again.

Steady lar!

Just Some inputs on the above comments:
All of us enjoy the kickaround at bugis. But no one can deny the joy when any of us scores in a competitive match and of course when we win!
So Since we have a team here, might as well have a friendly game once in a 'while' and up our morale hopefully most of the time!

To improve ourselves:
On fitness, depends on the individual to improve. Excerise at least once per week on weekdays and enjoy more night excerise. oops.

On a serious note, the coordination between us is still in need of improvement.
Ivan and I played together for many years and we kinda know where we will run and where to pass
This linkup passing is very important specially when you have opponents pressing you whenever we have possession.
So we need to work on the team play passing and understand each other's style.

To get the act together for a start, for games at bugis on sunday, we group ourselve as defenders, midfielders and strikers department which is our prefered position in a match.
Then we split the groups into two and try to get the even amount of players in each department per team.
Although sometimes, we might not have enough players in the department, etc defenders, we stick into the position at least for the first half of the training.
Usually, as we play 2 halfs, so for the first, we try to keep to our position. This will help players to improve on their play in that position and let other members understand how you play.
Then in the second half, we can lose the shape and as we always do, all out attack!

What say you!
