hi folks,

spoke to some of the players and they dont mind playing both saturday (match) and sunday (training) this coming weekend.
however, i suppose we wont know how's the fatigue like until the match is played.

thus, i will be confirming the sunday's game nevertheless.
after the match, u guys discuss and let me know if we should carry on with the sunday's game.

have a great game!

Not sure if it is a good idea to fix positions before the game.

the problem is that we do not have an active team captain/coach to decide the game plan on the matchday itself. at times, many are at a lost where they should play 5 mins before the kickoff.
i guess this is the closest we could get until we have someone for that role.

Recommend the mature personnel to be the person in charge. etc Mr Liew(Ivan)
It will be easier with just a Manager and captain who really decides the formation and game plan.
And the captain of the game will be in charge of firing up players, reminding them to fall back during the game.
We need that constant reminder.
Last match, we played I remember central midfield MIA for the 2nd half of the game.
And opposition midfield keep poking in the middle and there was no cover for defence.
One simple rule for upfield midfielders, fall back a little if you too tired. Leave the running up /attacking up to others till you catch your breath.
At least the defence is protected.

For now the team formation thing on the web looks good enough.
How about a poll to decide the manager and captain/vice captain for the game.
:)

I agree wif Adrain...cos usually in the match when we need to fill - in positions that are not familiar - its easy to stray off into offensive position and its hard to fall back after opponents pump a long ball for counter - attack....

I urge fellow beatles to maintain team - shape and own positions when playing and the Captain / Manager will need to step up and be counted...

Our weakness is very apparent - we cannot play with defence line very high up, because most of the goals we conceded were when opponents pump long ball over our defence. We dont' have a experience centerback to lead the defence line either.

now we also have a spy (chee boon) amongst us .. hehehe, so am very sure opponent will just fire long ball over our defence this time round.

the gameplan now will be simple, we park the bus in front of goal.

for captain - no need to look around again, for charlton is around. for those who happen to be playing with us for over 2 years, Charlton used to be the "original" captain.. he's the one who used to shout at players to fall back

Great, Charlton will be in charge of shouting out at players to get back to position! A Important Task!

To further caress the point of  players falling back. If our attacking midfielders are tried,  they should not stray too high up the field. No point if you are dam shag and we pass you the ball and  you are too tired to move and get tackle and counterattack by opponents. Leave the running up to the rest till you regain your breath.  Stay in formation.

For this game, I will bring my ever realiable canon digital camera and if possible, I will borrow a video camera and tripod to film the guys who don't fall back. wahaha. Provided someone driving volunteer to fetch me from my house at chinatown. Hehe.

Since Mr Liew can't play in the first, recommend Gerald to the centreback. He can tackle well. Based on previous match when he play DM, he doesn't fall back. So if he plays centre back, he is not suspose to go up and attack. Just hope that when he tackles the ball, he don't dribble in front of our goalkeeper. Haha.

What do you guys think?

Ah Soon, well said. Indeed there is a "mole" among the team. ha ha
With all these hype building up, it will guarantee to be a fantastic clash tomorrow.  Great choice of the starting lineup by Adrian. Well done!
Here's the writeup from SGX United:

"
Many would have recalled the “Water Polo” match a year ago which Bugis Beatles drew 1-1 with SGX United at the Eunos field. The match was also United debut game.

In a highly contested 2nd leg played a fortnight later at the Bedok View Secondary School Field, the Beatles edged a 0-1 victory over United.

“Expect another a Classic Encounter”

United Skipper CheeBoon says “fans can expect another classic encounter when the two teams meet on the 4th Feb”. It will be another top contest between two quality teams. I am confident that our team will produce something good given our recent form. Yet we should never underestimate the Beatles who is a good side with interesting individuals.”

“Results will be an Indication of SGX United Progress”

The skipper also added “The results will give a good indication of how far SGX United has progressed. We started playing a year ago against the Beatles and they have not lost to us yet. We are happy to play them again and hope to change the result this time.”

Getting Results Away from Home

SGX United will be traveling away to Marina South Field 6 on the 4th Feb. The players are looking to extend the team’s unbeaten run to 7 games. However, United needs to improve its away form as the team has only managed 2 wins, 3 draws and lost 5 out of 10 away games played outside its Tanjong Katong stronghold last season."

Yar, almost forgot,

Let's try to kickoff on time tomorrow (be there for your warm up 830am)
I'll tell the referee (the cab driver)  to play 45min per half since the turnout is good and everyone will have a longer playing time on the field.

If everyone is late, we can only play for 40 mins per half

Cheers

i wouldnt suggest gerald playing centerback as he is too offensive-oriented, plus that might not utilise his dribbing ability.
i always see him as a perfect swop for ho soon's position.

as long as anthony's going to be there, goalkeeper's role is not an issue.
thomas and ho soon can command the backline for the first half while gerald can be deployed as the OM.
since KF is playing, he should resume his role as the anchor, protecting the defence from the opposition. charlton is also a good candidate for anchor if there is other hybrid of lineup.

ivan can come in in the second half as he preferred, thats when ho soon can fully exert his energy as a playmaker while gerald drop back to the CM, if not, replacing alson as the ST.

Steady lar!
