Came across this amatuer league which is going on and was wondering if anyone is interested.
http://www.d2dsports.com/faq-2/
Pro - Get to play matches on regular basis - Each division consist of only 10 teams so not that hectic. - Get to play against team of similar strength/standard base on the mutli tier division promotion and relegation system. So newly joined team will start in the lowest division. - The league exercise rotating sub rule so we don't have to be so worry about lack of fitness. - Hopefully with regular matches we're able to draw more players as it seems a lot of ppl prefer to turn out only if there are matches.
Cons - Must pay thou if shared equally amount each player should not be a big amount. - Must commit wkend for games. Well, i've seen some team coming up with totally different team for each match and even recruiting new players even as the season gets underway so can always do a pay as you play system like what some teams are doing so that those who genuinely is not free to attend a particular match do not have to pay.
Anyway, feedback & comments please.

i'm ok with it.
dont think money would be a big issue for most adult players, plus it can be subsidized using the team fund.
surely, player issue would be a big teething problem to tackle, which i doubt it will be helped if we go by pay-as-you-play basis.

I'm sure that are still a group of us that wants to play. Saw a few of those teams that join this league posting in forums and sites such as Kallangroar.com looking for more players to add into their team (cos as usual for amatuer teams, not all payers can make it to every matches all the time). So was thinking instead of joining them to play soccer once a while if we're not playing on our own, it will be great if we can form our own team with the players we have.
If we're able to get up to 15 core players interested in this project, probably we can consider to join. Anyway, we don't have to rush into it. Lets see if we're able to get some support from the rest of the players before we decide whether to form a team to join.
Players interested
1) David 2) Kent 3) Ting Fu

Just played with one of the team on Sunday 3pm. They're suppose to have a league match that day but heard from them it became a friendly match as the league match was a walkover(think their supposed opponent was short of players but the league commitee help arranged for them to play a friendly with another team).
Played the match at Orchid Park sec. Thou abit on the far side, the pitch was fantastic. Its artificial turf and very well maintained plus the ground was not too hard. It was raining quite heavily in the morning but the pitch was not at all affected in the afternoon. Referee standard also quite good n fair.

i like the idea of competitive league..but that would mean that every weekend = match? what about our trainings..etc..where would we find the time/date to slot them in? my 2 cents worth.

Definitely yes for me. I used to play in the prime league lower divisions, then in the Espzen amateur league quite popular i think. Would definitely welcome a return to competitive games.

Thats y...if play in league means must limit size of squad and not everyone can play every week liao and those who join must be commited.
Think if we have enough players for games among ourselves, maybe we don't have to tie ourselves down with this commitment. I'm refreshing this topic because i saw Alan mention abt it in the post.
Some bit of history - few months ago last year, we are facing a crisis of sort with not enough players to play even in a proper game because most of our former regular players have left us and its only left with Kent, Ting Fu, Me and an occasional 1 or 2 players...it was pathetic and during then, i came up with this topic to ask for opinion. But of cos, things had changed a lot since then, we've managed to sort of revive the Bugis Beatles with injection of new players and implementing of new systems and its glad to know this new batch of players click very well. Anyway, for the matter of whether we should or should not join a league, my opinion now and my opinion few months back is very different

I feels that its good to join league because, 1) Its difficult to build up the teamwork if we are playing against each other rather than together most of the time. 2) Most players like some thrill & excitment 3) If r/s & teamwork is build up among us, its less likely that players wanna leave in sudden or bear to leave.
I think we need to know currently we got how many regulars, pull out some to start wif a team first then eventually another -- if more plp join. IE: B.Beatles 1, B.Beatles 2 - in the league.
BB training remains unchanged, others not participating in league can still play in GESS or BMSS. Those playing in the league but got better stamina, can join them too cos usually BB training is on Sunday morning while league games are Sat or Sun afternoon/evening. In this way, at one side we are playing competitve games and at another side we are training / sourcing new bloods.
My 2 cents worth...

I think I've said this before: "Comparing to pay-more-play-less on matches, to play-more-pay-less on our usual Sunday games, which would you choose?" I'm quite sure everyone has a different answer. Nevertheless, below is mine and it's slightly long one.
Sunday soccer to me is 70% fun and 30% serious.
Fun being that I get to do what i like (football) with a regular group of friends, playing all sort of positions and laugh at ourselves when we make silly mistakes. Serious is when we have match once a while (perhaps once every two months), formulating relevant drills, various tactic and formation prior to match day.
Joining a league would tilt the proportion to 20% fun and 80% serious. I will never argue with the fact that playing frequent competitive football will bring our standard to a higher level.
However, I loathe the logistic part and weekly team selection. The process of coordinating for fixtures and picking the appropriate players will be a hassle. Everyone has their own commitment, thus your best players may not always be available. When a team is badly in need of a win, there is little playing time for fringe players. Players patience wear out if they are benched for too long, or not even selected into the first squad. And we will be a lot less tolerant with one another, as there is little room for silly mistakes. If the team is ona winning streak, it is fine. But if your best players always turn up for losing games, morale and loyalty become questionable. Since the players are not contracted to us, we cannot stop players for not showing up. Whenever I visualize all these scenes, I find it a lot less enjoyable. This also explains why I am always passive when challenger shows up.
In my opinion, this team is still in it's infant stage. We are still far from be able to play as a team.
Having said all these, I am not concluding that league participation is a taboo or unattainable. No harm starting off in baby steps: Firstly, we need to find ourselves 1-2 volunteers who are willing to coordinate all the logistics for the team (at least pertaining to friendly matches). Secondly, gradually increase the frequency of our matches, perhaps once every 2 months->monthly->fortnightly and etc.
I suppose if we can prove ourselves well enough on such recreational basis, we are ready for a bigger challenge!

I think it still boils down to commitment for LONG TERM. It's easy to get 5~6 regular players but gather a whole team is big challenge. Nonetheless hope to see BB joining a league and move on to better stuff.

i agree with kent...take it slow...jumping in right away might just scare people off due to the commitment. i'm in if there's anything like that going on.

I don't mind helping out with the arranging of matches, does it always have to be at BM? Or does everyone not mind travelling to different fields and so on.
