Maybe once every six month...where we book the pitch for 4 hours? Gather response and attendance to allow up to 40 to 44 players. Then pre-group the players into 4 teams so that the strenght of the teams are even.
Then we play a 4 team knock out tournament. 15 to 20 mins per half with 5min break between the half...then if match end in tie...decide the winner thru sudden death pk.. (so 1 game will take abt 40 to 55 mins) just nice for 4 games (semi, final and 3rd/4 placing)
each team will get to play 2 games.
I know this sound ambitious....haha... but if it work...it should be quite fun and everyone will get their chance to play.
Of cos...cant do this every week...cos playing short half games cant train our match fitness....i'm talking abt once every half a year or something just for some fun?
Good suggestion dude, I will say the truth on what I saw based on the Training on Sunday.
First,
Game of 11 aside is not suitable for amatuers or guys still learning the game because everybody are either waiting for offense or just plain chasing the ball.
I hardly see any short passes between the players and 95% long ball and plain chasing. (Except for Team regulars)
Everyone wants to play striker or midfield and not helping out on defense (That is not right and at one point I saw 5 forwards resting on the opposition half)
My Take:
Training on the game should be done 7-aside 20 minutes (4 quarters); Winner stays after every quarter.
Team should consists of 10 guys with 3 subs. Team strategy should be discussed as Team not individual.
With lesser people on the field, it allows more space and everyone has to stay compact to avoid tiring out.
More importantly, it makes passing easier with comfortable space and pace
Last, I must say it is Good Work done by all the Guys that is keeping the Team going.
WELL DONE fellas
Cheers Dave

Hi Dave,
Several flaws with your observations. If games of 11 a side are not suitable for amateurs, how are we supposed to learn the game? Players who play street soccer or futsal primarily struggle to make the switch to the full game, this on its own is telling.
Playing with lesser on the field is detrimental to what you are trying to improve upon, as lesser players on the field means more space for strikers to exploit, increasing the effectiveness of the long ball game. Two steps backwards there. In fact I feel that being closed down constantly would encourage players to play a more simple passing game.
Everyone wants to play striker or midfield. This is true for most amateur teams in Singapore. In fact, we have a surprising amount of dedicated defenders here, more so than other teams. We are usually never short of defenders.
It's true that the regulars play more passing etc, this comes with time. It's a learning process, everyone has to start from somewhere, the more people play together with the team, the more cohesive and comfortable they become with the style of playing.
It's hard to make judgements simply based on one training session. After all, every single one of the regulars came in as newbies once, and all of us have adapted pretty well to the playing style of the team.

Someone's meat may be others' poison
Learning about the game of football is a very subjective matter.
For instance, I can tell you all the facts about how Ammatuer can play football; (On second thoughts, you just need to google it.)
You will probably have your own opinions.
Futsal, street soccer all advocates several attributes while playing: Control, passing and positioning
These are the basic fundamentals of playing football (In my opinion)
How is an ammatuer going to learn all these on a 11-aside if most of the time he is running for the ball from one end to the other (Unless he is as fit as Ting Fu)
Cheers Dave
