The new scoring system certainly calls for plenty of goals & early wins, since drawing in normal time only goes into penalty shoot-out which can favour any side...

The new point system is meant to make things more entertaining if teams are evenly matched and most games ends in draw, though at the same time, we encourage teams to attack and go for direct wins instead of holding for draws (Direct wins will worth twice as much points and if total pts are the same for 2 teams, the team that has the most direct wins will rank higher)

So it serves to encourage more risk taking...and adventurous approach.

 

By the way, the registrations for the challenge should be opened anytime soon this wkend....!!!!

Do keep a lookout for it. We'll also make an official announcement once the registration is opened!

The registration for the Bugis Beatles Challenge Trophy 2011 is officially opened! Do register early to avoid disappointment as there will only be limited slots up for grabs!

Put it this way; you need a minimum 4 pts to have a chance at the finals; 5 pts to be comfortable; 6 pts to be certain.
On that notet; 4 points from penalty shoot-out after regular time doesn't win you anything because a direct win is more valued.
Looking at the table below, if team C & D were to draw against each other in their match, they would have proceed to Finals immediately with 5pts each.
Some might think that a loss would mean a mountain to climb to reach the Finals, but I would rather see it as a win means a foot in the Finals already.
